Title: Forsaken
Author: Makenzie McCroskey Jones
Genre: YA Fantasy
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Book Description
Burdened by eyes that reveal her emotions, branded by a birthmark that spells out her name, and gifted with strength heightened by inhuman capabilities, Kiara Fable has always suspected a veiled aspect of her life—what she failed to notice was the truth of her past lurking in the shadows, disastrously unraveling the normalcy of her future. Kiara’s dreary life with her adoptive family in a small, isolated village in the heart of the mystical world Menevilen is abruptly shattered the day she is rescued from an attempted assassination by the charming and intimidating Avian Knight. According to him, royal blood native to the kingdom of Enevale flows through Kiara’s veins—the same blood her maniacal, magic-wielding aunt, Vyntrx, will do virtually anything to spill. Thrust in the midst of a century-old blood-feud between the Evalseman and Nonae races, Kiara must ultimately betray half of her heritage and choose to defend a side of the rivalry. Faced with a war she may not be capable of winning, the presence of a traitor hiding amid the darkness of distrust, the bittersweet venom of love’s merciless sting, and more precarious escapades than she thought imaginable, Kiara fears her new world may be utterly forsaken.

After Avian had prepared the makeshift campsite beside the glowing fire, Kain wrapped himself in a blanket and succumbed to slumber almost instantly. Avian reclined against the harsh bark of a tree, his eyes scanning the forest as his thoughts whirred. He heard Kiara shuffling closer to him and chided his heartbeat for accelerating from the mere reminder of her presence.
     “See anything?” she whispered.
“No,” he muttered. “You should get some rest.”
She sighed, folding her legs against her chest and staring at Avian through the shadows. “My head feels like it’s on fire,” she said slowly. “When I look at you, when I’m near you, my body swirls and spins with confusion. A voice inside my head tells me to push you away, to distance myself from you—but a small part of me just wants to break down and sob. Why do I feel that way, Avian? Why have my emotions changed so much?”
He glanced away, his eyes locked on the lightless distance as tears slid down his cheeks. A lump of guilt rose in his throat as desolation smothered his heart. “Maybe someone out there just doesn’t want us to be together,” he choked.
His suggestion issued a wave of conflicting emotion to stir in the pit of her stomach. She bit her lip, urging the sensation to pass—but it only grew stronger. “I’m not sure what to say,” she admitted.
“There’s something I want you to know and never forget,” he spoke softly, his voice quavering. He refused to glance at her and allow her to see his tear-streaked face. “Regardless of what happens.”
She furrowed her brow in confusion, attempting to discern his figure through the oppressive shadows. The gleam of the fire highlighted his body in an orange outline, but his face was deliberately turned from hers and even if he had been staring directly at her, she would not have been able to read his expression through the darkness. “What is it?”
He was silent for several seconds. In the distance, a bird squawked plaintively as though it had been attacked by a predator. “I love you,” he declared. “I’ll always love you.”

Forsaken is an incredible, unique story.  MaKenzie McCroskey Jones did an amazing job writing Forsaken and building the world that the story takes place in, lots of detail was put in to this book. I also loved the characters, they all are complex and have very different personalities, I enjoyed learning more about them. I cant wait to read the next book in the series to see how the story continues. I give Forsaken 4 out of 5 stars, it is a must read.

Beautiful Lies by Gina Whitney

Title: Beautiful Lies
Author: Gina Whitney
Genre: Erotic Romance
Reveal Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Synopsis: Enigmatic Cameron Sterling is quickly rising through the ranks at New York’s most prestigious and corrupt law firm Wotherspoon and Associates. He has willfully avoided any meaningful personal relationships and is content to casually hook up with Becky, a young woman who fancies herself as his actual girlfriend. As a child, Cam witnessed his father murder his mother, and this was the genesis of his relationship-avoidance issue. The only thing he cares about now is becoming a partner at Wotherspoon and Associates. Cam is obsessed with the promotion and will not let anything—or anyone—stand in his way. But when Cam crosses paths with Lilly Amsel, a fashion model, the edges of his well laid plans begin to fray. At first, Cam is unimpressed by Lilly’s exaggerated effervescence and entitled air. However, he is taken aback by her incredible beauty—legs as long as an Amazon’s, silky honeyed-hair, and blazing body. This undeniable physical attraction disturbs Cam on all levels, leaving him intrigued by Lilly and wanting to get away from her at the same time.  Lilly is strongly aroused by Cam’s moody presence. His dark, erotic looks and heady scent ignite long-dormant embers of wanton desire buried deep within her. Practically hypnotized, she finds her body reacting in the most surprising and carnal of ways. However, the two separate and never expect to see each other again, but somehow they manage to still linger on each other. Lilly’s larger-than-life persona that Cam initially encountered is a sham, though. It is a well-crafted costume that masks deeply rooted insecurity and an unfortunate dependence on prescription drugs. This stems from a horrifically abusive childhood that she is trying desperately, and unsuccessfully, to forget. Her mediocre modeling career was the perfect vehicle for her to escape that tumult and simultaneously receive acceptance and praise. It did not matter to Lilly that the kudos were based on superficial assumptions. She was still almost satisfied with the result and what modeling could not fix, the drugs could.  Enthrallment and lust have other plans, though. Despite their best efforts to stay apart, Cam and Lilly come back together and embark on a tempestuous affair. For both of them, a torrid weekend getaway in the mountains unleashes years of pent-up sexual frustration and destroys inhibitions. Cam has no problem taking charge as he relishes Lilly’s delicious inner nectar. Again and again, Cam delivers Lilly pleasure she has never known before, leaving her trembling as
she reclaims the goddess within.

While her mother stays locked in her room, Rylee has been forced into the role of parent.

Rylee herself is seeing more of her friends and is even trying to sort out her own feelings about Brock Parker. However, something dark threatens to disrupt that normality for personal gain, and that darkness is willing to break every rule to get what it wants.

About the Author~

S.M. Knowles was born in Elmira, New York where she was swept away in a whirlwind to the Land of Oz—Independence, Kansas. Her parents were relocating for working opportunities and decided that this would be the perfect place to start new roots. Little did she know that this place would contribute to the inspiration for the first book she wrote in her Rylee Everley Series.
While growing up, S.M. would travel the roads around her house while imagining she was somewhere else. Her imagination would take her everywhere, making the long hot summer days seem shorter throughout her fantasies. </ o:p>
At the age of twelve, she decided to write her first book. Filled mostly with dialog, she filled up one-hundred pages, front and back. After taking the book downstairs to show her mom, and persuading her to buy her more paper, she excitedly ran back to her room. As she barreled through the door, S.M. tripped over items left on her floor, and her papers came raining down in her room. Discouraged, she stood there in tears, picking up her papers and throwing them in the trash. Her work had no organization, no numbers on her pages, just a child fulfilling a joy that she would put down and not pick up again.
When she became older, she joined the military for something different. In that time, she was able to explore many places and even met her husband in Iraq. After coming home, she started her family in Arizona and went back to school, earning a Master’s degree in Adult Education and Training.

Getting up, I walk over to the tree line. I don’t see anything around, so I grab a rock and throw it to scare off any animals. Walking in further, I call out, “Hello?” Everything is quiet. I wait a few more seconds. Something feels off. Walking in a little further, I hear a branch break. I know I didn’t step on anything, so something’s unquestionably out there. “Who’s out here?” I yell. A big oak tree stands directly in front of me, right next to him. “No, no, no, no,” I beg.
