Blood ties

Review 4/5 stars!!

Spell Bound

College senior Grace is half witch, half mortal, and one of the most powerful supernatural beings in existence. Problem is she doesn’t know any of this yet.

... But she’s about to find out—and fast. Her powers are awakening, and Grace is in danger as her transformation reignites an ages-old war between her clan and an evil rival witch faction that will stop at nothing to see Grace dead so their leader, the vicious, ruthless Catherine, can harness Grace’s incredible powers for her own dark purposes.

It’s up to Grace’s immortal Aunt Evelyn and her best friend Julie—a shape shifter from a long line of Native American mystics—to defend her. She also has James on her side, a witch from the Bolingbroke clan that has vowed since Grace’s birth to keep her safe. From the moment they meet, the two share a fierce supernatural attraction—a white-hot heat that neither can resist. Will their undying love protect her or put her in greater danger? Only time will tell, and time for Grace is running out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blood Ties was a great read. I really enjoyed the different take on witches in this book (some of it will surprise you) and the descriptive way Gina writes.
Grace is half witch half mortal and may just be one of the strongest of her kind, but she doesn't know anything supernatural actually exists until she dreams of a girl being killed and sees her best friend Julie turn into a wolf. Grace's powers are finally awakening which means Grace is in danger.
Catherine is a vicious power hungry witch that is determined to kill Grace and consume her power. To help keep Grace safe from Catherine and train her to use and understand her powers Evelyn gets help from fellow witches James, Addison and Adrian.
James and Grace have an instant attraction to each other, but there is also an attraction between Grace and James's brother Adrian. Grace has to figure out which one is love and which one is just attraction, the decision ends up causing more problems for Grace and both brothers.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you like a good book about witches. Blood Ties will keep your attention with all of the great details, characters and action. Gina Whitney is great author and I look forward to reading more books from her.
The Shadow and the Rose (The Ash Grove Chronicles)
Review 4/5 stars!!
Book one of the Ash Grove Chronicles. In the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, Ash Grove High School for the Performing Arts draws the brightest and most talented teens. But beneath the peaceful surface, supernatural forces are at work...
When ordinary high-school junior Joy Sumner visits a graveyard at midnight on a dare, she doesn't expect to end up sharing a kiss with brooding teen model Tanner Lindsey. And she definitely doesn't expect to make an enemy of Tanner's seductive, sinister mentor, the ageless supermodel Melisande--who may not be entirely human--or to find that her sleepy little corner of North Carolina is buzzing with supernatural energy.
But most unexpected of all is when Joy finds out that she's pregnant. And when Tanner's love for her puts his life in danger, will she be able to rescue him--and save their future together?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed reading The Shadow and the Rose, once I got into the book I finished in a few hours. If you are looking for a different paranormal YA book, this is it. The first thing I loved about the book is no love triangle, the second is that is it based on different paranormal creatures that you are used to reading about in YA books, and the third and fourth is the characters in the book and of course the way it was written. Amanda DeWees does a great job writing The Shadow and the Rose.

Joy Sumner is a strong young girl living at Ash Grove High School having to deal with her father being sick, not sure of the direction she should take in school and not really fitting in, but she is determined and is learning how to deal with it all. After being dared to go to a graveyard at night to prove a superstition to be false she meets Tanner Lindsey who will change her life completely after their first kiss.

If you like reading paranormal romance I recommending picking up The Shadow and the Rose, you won't be disappointed. I look forward to reading the next book in the series Casting Shadows.

Zombified

Review 4/5 stars!!

Cassie is a typical teenager. She’s crushing on a boy and trying to make it through high school. It’s a typical day of classes when all hell breaks loose. Forced to run and hide the situation just keeps getting worse. Sh...e makes a mistake and soon becomes infected. She meets others like her and together they sent out to find a cure. Is their fate already sealed? Can they find a cure before it’s too late? See what happens through the eyes of the infected when Cassie tells you how Zombies are people too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 I loved Zombified. It is a quick fun read from the zombies point of view. It was a lot of fun reading about Cassie's journey as she is turning into a zombie, and the zombie friends she makes along the way.
Cassie's day starts out like any other until her school is attacked by people with grey skin and bloody clothes. While trying to figure out what is going on and what to do next Cassie is bitten.
Cassie's transformation from human to zombie does not happen right away, but she does get the random taste for human flesh at the worst possible time. After Cassie gets her first taste of human flesh she leaves her school and starts her journey where she meets the first of her bitten friends, Rose as well as a few others.
I don't want to give away too much, but if you love a good zombie read you will definitely want to pick up this book. Lyra McKen does a great job writing Zombified and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I received this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Born to Fight (Born 2) (The Born Trilogy)
Review 5/5 Stars!!
Highly anticipated sequel to the number one bestselling novel, Born.
Twenty years ago scientists made some remarkable discoveries with genetics and the ability to perfect the babies we gave birth to.
... Ten years ago the governments of the world made a hard choice, earth or people.
Nine weeks ago the choices they made came full circle.
Fourteen days ago the truth of their mutations leaked out into the borderlands and other areas.
Yesterday the worst thing they ever made learned about what she was.
Today she's coming for them and she knows about the strengths they gave her.
Tomorrow she plans on destroying everything.
She plans on starting with her her own creator. Her own father.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Born to Fight was even better than Born. Once again I could not put this book down and finished it in a few hours.

In this book we get to learn more about Em, we learn everything about her past that even she didn’t know and some of it will shock you. I loved watching Emma learn more about herself and how far she is willing to go for the ones she loves.

If you have read Born then I am sure you already have picked up Born to live. I am waiting to see when the last book in the trilogy will be released.

Born (The Born Trilogy)

Review 5/5 Stars!!

"It's us and them, Em. There are no regular people anymore."

Ten years ago when the world ended she ran for her life.
...
Five weeks ago the world she'd hidden from came knocking on the door of her secluded cabin.

Ten days ago she found salvation hiding amongst the dead.

Yesterday she went back for the living.

Today she wonders if she will live to see tomorrow.

What do you do when the world you were born to is gone?

Where do you hide when even your own body isn't safe?

Emma ran when her daddy told her to. She hid like he said she should. He was the first person she turned her back on. The first one she let die.
Ten years has gone by and she still lives by the simple rules he taught her when she was nine years old.
"Don't help anyone. Don't go where other people are unless you have to. Trust no one. Always pull the trigger."

Until one night she hears the worst sound in the world, a knock. A simple, timid knock, on the door to her cabin.
Only the voice of the brave little girl, ready to die for her brother, persuades Emma to open the door.
As her fingers turn the lock, she has a terrible feeling she will regret her decision.
But even as regret fills her world, so do love and companionship. Things she never imagined she would ever have again.

Everything comes at a cost, you decide what you'll pay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I devoured this book. I love a good end of the world book and this is one of them. The world has been infected by humans that have turned into something that looks like zombies. The government is kidnapping young girls, women and men to work as breeders and basically slaves.
Emma has been living on her own since her dad died 10 years ago. She has had no human contact, living with her pet wolf until siblings Jake and Anna need her help and Em finds herself trying to figure out feelings she doesn't really understand.
I loved all the characters in Born. Tara writes a great story that you will not be able to put down. I stayed up until 3am because I had to see what happens next. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the next two books in the trilogy.
My Demonic Ghost
Review 5/5 Stars!!
Rachael has traveled to Whitehaven to visit her father, a trek she can not help but dread given his recent descent into madness. Upon her arrival she realizes his deterioration has not only been mental, it’s been physica...l as well. His death comes as no surprise, but what she discovers soon after, is shocking when his burden becomes hers.
Lock is a banished spirit who must attach himself to a human host in order to hide from those who would drag him back to hell to be destroyed. When he meets Rachael he finds more than a host, he finds an ally.
Together they must defeat each of the seven sins in order to guarantee Lock's safe passage into the Third Realm, a loophole in creation that would allow him to escape hell and have peace at long last. Through their unlikely friendship, other banished spirits flock to them in hopes of a peace they hadn't dreamt possible.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed My Demonic Ghost.
 If you are looking for something different from the typical YA book, this is it. This is a different take on the afterlife and the seven deadly sins than I have ever read. I love the characters of this book especially Rachel who is a young strong girl who won't be a victim.
Jacinta Maree did a great job writing My Demonic Ghost and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future.

Surfacing the Rim: Piercing the Fold, Book 2

Review 4/5 Stars!!

Jesca Gershon-Sera’s life changed forever in the first installment of the Piercing the Fold series. She discovered that she was not an average college student from Marietta, Georgia. Rather, she had a purpose as a Dobria...n guardian to protect our world and its humanity.

Evolving into an illusion…

In Surfacing the Rim: Book 2, the battle between good and evil continues between the Dobrian and Sondian fellowships. The salvation of our world’s existence beyond the impending galactic intersection lays in the hands of a Dobrian team of guardians, including Jesca and her father, Ezra Kahn. The Sondian fellowship’s inhumane corruption of our world is spreading like wildfire, redrawing lines between allies and enemies.

Where bonds are deepened…

Jesca continues to strengthen her relationship with Ezra while her physical attraction to Nate Sera, a fellow Dobrian, intensifies.
Adopted son of Sondian Samson Crest, Xander Crest has to come to terms with the corrupt Sondian fellowship he has been aiding unknowingly and forms an alliance with the Dobrian fellowship and the one person he did not want to leave behind in Piercing the Fold: Book 1.

And choices must be made.
Jesca’s fortitude is put to the test when she must make crucial decisions in battle and in love. Jesca and the Dobrian guardian team must stop the chaos the Sondians intend to draw into our world from another galaxy. All the while, Jesca must choose between the predestined link that she shares with Nate and the unresolved attraction she holds for Xander.
With unexpected twists and turns, Jesca will face a battle of epic proportions in this pre-apocalyptic installment of Piercing the Fold.

Will Jesca have enough courage to surface the rim of this reality?

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Surfacing the Rim was better than Piercing the Fold
.
Surfacing the Rim starts out right where the first book ended. I enjoyed watching all of the characters grow and find out who they needed to be in this book, especially Jesca, Nate and Xander. I also enjoyed watching all of the relationships grow in this book also, finding out who they love and seeing Jesca and Ezra's father daughter bond grow.
Surfacing the Rim is definitely gearing us up for the third book in the series and I cant wait to read it.
Piercing the Fold: Book 1
Review 4/5 Stars!!
Jesca Gershon-Sera has an average life on the surface. She is a sophmore in college, has a loving family, and holds a part time job at a local bookstore with her best friend. Her life is pretty normal. Except, under the ...surface she feels like she is losing her mind. Reoccurring nightmares have plagued Jesca for most of her childhood. She thought nothing of them, until they began intensifying and finding their way into her waking hours. Voices, vivid images and supernatural abilities in her nightmares are beginning to seep into her reality.
Ezra Kahn is one of her college professors. Lately, Ezra happens to be everywhere she is; like he is watching her. Along with the slight fear that her professor is stalking her, Jesca fears that she won't be able to handle much more of the insanity that is blurring her reality. On a chance encounter, Jesca confides in Ezra about the crazy happenings. Jesca thought that he would think her to be insane or a freak. But, to Jesca's surprise, Ezra Kahn reveals that she is not a lunatic and that all of the insanity is very real.
Instantly, Jesca's reality is set askew. Ezra reveals that he has been sent to help her. He tells her she is experiencing these events in her life because of her inherited purpose to protect humanity from inconceivable catastrophe.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I started out Piercing the Fold a little slow wondering if I was going to be able to finish it and I am so glad I did.

I loved Jesca, she is wondering if she is seriously losing it with all the nightmares. What she thinks the nightmares are just something she has delt with since childhood is actually who she really is. Once Jesca meets Ezra he helps her figure out she really isn't all that crazy but that her life is about to completely change.

Piercing the Fold has alot of twists and turn and really picks up towards the middle of the book. Venessa writes a great story and will keep you wondering what is going to be revealed next. Piercing the Fold left me wanting more and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.

A Touch of Honor (The Honor Trilogy)

Review 4/5 Stars!!

Honor hurts…all the time. The doctors say she’s fine – it’s all in her head. But Honor feels pain. What she doesn’t know is…it’s not her pain– it’s everyone else’s.
Seventeen year-old Honor Stevens is not an ordinary tee...nager. Sure, she looks like one on the outside…but on the inside, there’s a whole world of pain going on. Honor is an empath. That means she can feel other people’s pain – like that of the girl who is about to be raped in the woods, or the girl who is dying of cancer, or her mom…who is suffering a heart attack. What she doesn’t know is what Ethan Sutherland comes to town to tell her – she can save these people. But at what cost? For every life Honor saves, she knocks years off her own.
When Ethan comes looking for her, he isn’t counting on falling in love. Now that he has, he wishes he hadn’t told her about her abilities. Though he tries his best to talk her out of saving every soul, Ethan loses the battle – Honor’s too nice for her own good.
Then there’s the matter of Ethan’s estranged, morally corrupt half-brother, Storm – he loves Honor too. And because Honor is intrinsically empathic, she’s aware of Storm’s softer side and begins falling for him as well.
When the two brothers are forced to work together against a group of evil empaths who are after Honor, they need to put their differences aside and focus on saving the one girl they both love.
A Touch of Honor is a paranormal love story of a different kind. In a world gone mad with vampires and werewolves, A Touch of Honor tugs at the heartstrings with a girl out to heal the world…one person at a time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 A Touch of Honor was a easy quick read.
It was overall a good book especially for young adults. It definitely has a different story line than most books out now which is a nice change, but I see a love triangle in the future. I liked almost all of the characters in the book but unfortunately I didn't really like Ethan.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series and can't wait to see what happens next.
Touching Smoke (Touch Series Book #1)
Review 5/5 Stars!!
For sixteen-year-old FALLON BRAEDEN being on the run had been the easiest part of her life. Packing up and crossing whole cities on a split second decision had been tedious, having no friends and being alone had been pai...nful, but being caught by the truth was something she learned too late was worse.
Fallon is a weapon. She was created to destroy. Keeping her alive, keeping her safe is all Isaiah knows. It’s all that matters, because Fallon is his. She belongs to him. She is a part of his body, his soul, his heart. He will do anything, kill anyone to keep her, even if it means sacrificing himself.
But can Fallon believe the stranger on the motorcycle claiming he was there to die for her? How do you trust when you have no one but the memories of a girl you’ve never met and a tall, dark, gorgeous boy that you feel pulsing deep in your soul? What do you do when you’ve been lied to your whole life? When you’re told you’re normal even though nothing about you is normal? Fallon must learn quickly just what she is before the evil chasing her finally gets what it wants… her blood.
The world depends on her not falling in love, not giving in. But what happens when the temptation becomes too great, when falling is her only option? Can she live knowing the world will burn because his touch is the only thing keeping her alive?
Touch Passion. Touch Power. Touch Smoke!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Touching Smoke is a great read. It got straight to the point of the book and I couldn't put it down.

I loved Isaiah. He is sweet, caring and very protective (no bad boy in this book). I also loved Fallon, she is confused with her life turning upside down on her and finding out what she really is but she stays strong the whole time other than a few breakdowns which are well deserved.

Airicka Phoenix did a great job on Touching Smoke and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Dark Summer (The Witchling Series #1)

Review 5/5 Stars!!

A school for Witchlings...

The ultimate choice between Light and Dark...

... Where the price of a mistake...is your soul.

Sixteen-year-old Summer doesn’t expect her new boarding school to be any different than the rest: a temporary stay, until her uncontrollable magic gets her thrown out again. In her mind, there’s no point in getting too friendly with anyone. That is, until she notices Decker, the boy who will become the Master of Night and Fire on his eighteenth birthday.

When she learns that this special school has attracted others with magic in their blood, she is hopeful that this time around, things may be different. Besides, she can’t deny her interest in Decker, and when he rescues her one night from the dark forests of the Rocky Mountains, their connection is instant.

Yet a relationship with Decker may prove to be Summer’s downfall, forcing her to choose between Light and Dark, life and death, love – and their souls.

One choice. One soul. One price.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 This book was amazing!! If you are looking for something different that is not the typical cookie cutter paranormal romance/YA book this is the one to read. I loved it. Dark Summer is the first book I've read by Lizzy Ford and I now have a new favorite author to add to my list. It took me all of 7 hours to read this book because I could not put it down. This book will make you laugh, cry and wanting more. I loved all of the characters in this book, even the ones you want to hate. I am going to start the next book in the series right now and I can't wait to see what happens next in the series.
Shattered Grace
Review 4/5 Stars!!
Seventeen-year-old Grace grows up knowing she’s different, but she always attributed it to a mother who didn’t want her, a father who abandoned her, and a curse that sets her apart. Despite those struggles, her grandfath...er remained her rock and confidant. Her life shatters irrevocably after he suddenly dies.
The day of his funeral sets off a chain of events, making Grace question everything she’s ever known to be true, and as a result, who she can truly trust. She inherits his house, part of his money, his Guardian and something that ties them together.
Just before Grace’s 18th birthday, she is thrust into a world she couldn’t fathom existed, and does everything she can to thwart the destiny suddenly forced upon her. She’s been chosen for greatness, but at what cost? With eyes now open, she must choose to either be Chosen, or watch those around her suffer the consequences.
Torn between the man who’s come to protect her and the one sent to destroy her, she teeters on the edge of decision trying to come to grips with who she is, what she wants, and what all of that means for her, those she loves, and the rest of mankind.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed this book. It has a different take on Angels than other paranormal books that I have read which is always a plus, not that this book is in any way all about angels, just kind of given from the beautiful cover of the book :). The book kept my interest right from the start and I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book.

I loved all the characters in Shattered Grace. Grace is a mature 17 year old that has to go through a lot of changes after her grandfather dies and she handles everything that comes at her the best she can. Grace goes through a lot and also takes care of others along the way and that made me like Grace that much more.

I really enjoyed K Anne Raines writing and I can't wait to read more books from her.

Kiss of Fire

Review 4/5 Stars!!

Joclyn Despain has been marred by a brand on her skin. She doesn't know why the mark appeared on her neck, but she doesn't want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her. The... scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won't let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.

The scar is the reason she is being hunted.

If only she knew that she was.

If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her. Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; only he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really enjoyed Kiss of Fire and how different it was from others that I have read lately. While it was written well I gave it 4 star because at times I had a really hard time keeping my attention on the book. There was a few dull spots that didn't really need to be in the Kiss of Fire. I really liked all of the characters in Kiss of Fire and the relationship that Joclyn has with Ryland and the history they have together after being best friends since they were kids. This isn't a story of love at first sight which is a nice change. Rebecca Ethington writes a great book and I cant wait to read the next book in the series.
Star Cured
Review 5/5 Stars!!
Seventeen-year-old Tayla will never forget Beast’s fiery-venom spreading through her body like an infection. Now, with her best friend Chel’s help, she must find a human true love before the last petal falls from her enc...hanted rose or the full moon will transform her into a wolf forever.
But Tayla never expected that her biggest obstacle would come from inside—a wolf presence threatening to take her very soul. At every turn, the she-wolf exploits Tayla’s weaknesses and gains enough control to sabotage her dates. Tayla struggles to control her unruly wolf and her forbidden attraction to Beast. But can she resist his southern charm, the she-wolf’s attraction to his alluring scent, and still fall in love with a human?
Tangled in a web of wills, Tayla must risk everything to break the Curse of the Beast. With failure and possible death looming overhead, Tayla will do anything to find true love. But will one moon cycle be long enough to conquer her wolf and remain human? Or will she become a permanent member of Beast’s pack? Find out in the second installment in the Curse of the Beast series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 Wow!! This book was even better than the first. I finish Curse of the Beast and Star Crossed in less than 2 days, I could not put these books down. This is an amazing series and now one of my favorites. I fell in love with Beast and Tayla even more in this book than the last with everything they have to go through. It is hard to say too much about the book without giving away too much. But if you have read Curse of the Beast I highly doubt you will be able to stay away from Star Cursed and you wont want to stop reading. This book will leave you satisfied with the ending and excited when you see it is only the end for now. I will be on the look out for when the next book will be released and can't wait to read more about all the characters i love in this series.

Armored Hearts

Review 4/5 stars!!

When a crippled young lord rescues a girl falling from a tree, it reveals a secret about himself and his mother's side of the family that could put him at the center of a war with beings he thought only existed in fairy tales.

Tristan Gareth Smyth lived his entire life stuck at home at Waverly Park and left behind while his Grandfather makes trips to London, all because of his blasted wheelchair.

Then an American heiress falls in his lap, literally, and he must find a way to keep her at a distance to protect not only his secret, but everyone around him from an assassin sent to kill him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steampunk and fairies so you can't go wrong. Gareth is a young man that is confined to a wheel chair who finds out he has special powers when he helps Jessamine when she falls from a tree. I enjoyed all the characters in Armored Hearts but at times Gareth could be a little annoying. Armored Hearts is a little short but definitely a good read.
Curse of the Beast
Review 5/5 Stars!!
A dark shadow stalks the night, watching her—waiting to claim what is his.
Seventeen-year-old Tayla Jonas longs for a simple life, but after a traumatizing family loss, she is forced to be both mother and sister to her cousins while caring for her mentally unstable aunt. Moving to her grandma’s quiet town of Cody, Wyoming, Tayla finds some normalcy with her quirky green activist friend, Chel, who spends no time converting her to vegetarianism.
A few weeks into her new school, Tayla catches the eye of Kyle Harrington—the high school quarterback and resident millionaire—who can seduce any girl with his charismatic charm, including Tayla. But Kyle is anything but what he seems.
Walking through City Park, Tayla is unaware that an ancient curse has her in its crosshairs. The silver moonlight illuminates the path to her van, sprinkling shadows like evil twinkling eyes. Tayla’s skin prickles, and she turns. Something—or someone—is watching her.
A powerful werewolf steps from the shadows. An iridescent blue chord shoots from him and slams into her stomach, dissolving instantly. Pain wracks her body, and she tries to scramble to safety, but his silver eyes freeze her in place as the curse binds them together. The chord settles deep inside her body, coiling with dread around her heart.
Dismayed by the prospect of a werewolf for a shadow, Tayla fears for the safety of her friends and family. How will she keep the werewolf’s insatiable hunger in check? Her plans for a vegetarian lifestyle quickly dwindle away, and Tayla wrestles to fit her frazzled life back together—piece by piece. But what she didn’t expect was her attraction to the werewolf or the power of the full moon.
Will Tayla be strong enough to survive the Curse of the Beast? Or will it consume her like so many before? Find out in the first installment of this unique retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
I LOVED this book!! I could not put it down and read the book in about 4 hours. I absolutely love modern remakes of fairy tales and this one does not disappoint. I love this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Ashley Lavering is a great writer and story teller.
I loved Tayla and Beast. Tayla is a strong 17 year old girl that has gone through alot in her life. After her mother left her as a baby and being raised by her Aunt she has to mature at an early age to take care of her Aunt and 2 younger cousins after her uncle dies when her Aunt breaks down because of his death. Since moving to the town of Cody Tayla has a whole new set of problems to deal with.
After being home schooled her whole life she has to adapt to school and Kyle the obsessive quarterback that threatens ever other boy that look at her. With her best friend Chel she is able to avoid Kyle most of the time. When Tayla has to escape Kyle one night she meets Beast, the curse takes hold of her creating a link between them both that only lets them stray a short distance away from each other without being painful for both Tayla and Beast.
Once they are linked Tayla tries to fight as long as she can to stay with her family, after realizing she can't stay and keep them safe she is forced to live with Beast. Living with Beast reveals things about her past that she never would have learned, and also alters her future.
